We are a farming family which has moved from producing field crops such as wheat and canola into the new crops of fresh produce like sweet bell peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers. Our greenhouse is presently just over 26,000 sq ft, or 2/3 acre. We are excited to be able to offer to Saskatchewan fresh, wholesome food for the table which is Locally Grown, Vine Ripened and Chemical Free.
Tucked away on the prairies in the middle of the hay field on the original family homestead, Golden Eden Produce has seemingly grown out of the ground like the buffer crop of forage hay that surrounds it. With the peaceful setting of the farm complimenting the view of the greenhouse buildings, Golden Eden Produce is an oasis of fresh vegetables in the harsh climate of Saskatchewan.
Our year begins in mid December, with seeding and germination. Each crop has its own special time to be planted. Soon following is the moving of the tiny plants out into the greenhouse “nursery”— and once transplanted, the permanent home for the tomatoes, which will live for the rest of the year on that side. The NFT system of leafy greens and herbs lines the west wall during the summer; a fully satisfactory arrangement for that crop is still in the experimental phase during the winter. On the east side of the greenhouse will grow the cucumbers, both Long English and Minis, and the different varieties of Peppers, once transplant takes place.
Our produce is mainly wholesale; all our produce is available through local retailers and by special arrangement. Ask for us at your local grocery store.
